Power

“The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18).

Power isn’t always displayed in big, public ways. Sometimes power is hidden, lying beneath the surface. The mighty oak tree began with a small, but powerful seed. The grand explosion came from only one stick of dynamite. The dramatic recovery from sickness was triggered by just a small dose of medicine.

The Bible is a book, a message in writing. On the surface, it doesn’t look like much. But inside, it contains the story of Jesus who died on a cross. The message itself may seem strange at first, maybe even sound foolish. But when you use the message—when you let it work on your heart and watch it working on others, its power becomes apparent. The message of Jesus’ cross is the impetus for enormous personal growth, the explosive power to overcome evil, and the dramatic recovery from the sickness of sin. That’s because the message of the cross is the power of God!
