Contracts with God

Contracts are covenants. Legally binding agreements. You have to keep your end of the deal, or you face penalties. Sometimes pretty serious penalties.

What if we had to make contracts with God? Keep our end of the bargain or else face the penalties? That would be terrifying.

And yet, did you know that God makes contracts with us? But these contracts are ones where only he signs. Covenants where he’s the only one legally obligated. Agreements that require only him to keep his end of the deal.

He says, “I’m going to forgive you. Count on it. I’m going to save you. I have to. I’m going to love you. You can take me to court if I don’t. I promise to never recall you sins again.”

Read the contract again. It’s beautiful.

“This is the covenant I will make with the people. . . . I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (Jeremiah 31:33-34)
