Prayers for St. Matthew in Spokane, WA
Last Sunday we prayed for our sister church, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, in Spokane, WA, as wildfires threaten their community.
As of Thursday, Aug 6, St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School are not directly in harm’s way but are still under Level 3 evacuation status, which means no access to their facilities. No worship is planned for this Sunday due to the evacuation restrictions.
Many of their members have been evacuated from their homes; as far as they are aware, everyone is safe either at an evacuation center or with family/friends. Church leadership is not aware of anyone in the congregation that has lost property due to the fires, but reports are coming in about members’ friends and families losing homes.
As the fires continue, we continue to pray for everyone affected, in Spokane and across our nation. We ask God to provide safety, comfort, endurance, and trust in his power and love even through difficulty.
