Are you married? Or would you like to get married at some point? It’s important for two people who are married or will be married to have the same expectations for the marriage relationship.
Marriage partners aren’t just work partners. They certainly work together, but they also like each other. And they’re not merely friends, because they are also romantically involved. And they’re not merely sexual lovers, but they also protect each other. And while they’re committed to one another no matter what, they also try to understand each other better, point out each other’s faults, and forgive each other.
In other words, marriage partners are unlike any other kind of partner. Next to a relationship with God, it’s the deepest human relationship there is.
If you’re married or would like to one day be married, work on fostering a marriage partnership that is deep, profound, vulnerable, safe, and always flourishing.
Because the two are so much better off when they have each other. Yes, marriage takes work, but the union is beautiful.
God made it that way.
“The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him’” (Luke 1:68).
