In many ways, God is quite predictable. That’s wonderful, because we want to know that his love, his faithfulness, and his goodness will remain constant.
But he’s also so much bigger than we could ever imagine. And that makes him wonderfully unpredictable as well.
Like giving a donkey the ability to talk. Seriously, that really happened. The donkey’s master beat him, and God let the donkey look at his master with a human voice to tell him, “Knock it off!” Could you imagine what that was like?
God has lots of surprises. Sending a Savior as a poor little baby. Dying on a cross, of all things. Rising from the dead. Choosing you.
And there’s one still to come. When you see the mansion he’s preparing for you. Surprise!
Even cooler than a donkey talking.
“Then the Lord opened the donkey’s mouth, and it said to Balaam, ‘What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?’” (Numbers 22:28)
