When someone gives you a gift, you don’t have to say, “You shouldn’t have.” You don’t need to get them something in return as if you now owe them. They just wanted to do something nice for you. Just receive it with gratitude, and say, “Thank you.”
Same with God. He gives you sunshine, your family, your career, your daily bread. He’s not doing it to make you feel like you owe him. He just loves you—a lot. That’s why he also gave his Son for you.
Receive it all with gratitude, and say, “Thank you.”
“Give thanks in all circumstances.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
