Pastor Greg Hein grew up in Milwaukee, WI where he was blessed to be encouraged by family and friends to pursue the pastoral ministry. This led to him attending Martin Luther College (MLC) in New Ulm, MN to begin the ministry training curriculum of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). At MLC Greg found immense joy in knowing his God better through his studies as he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009. It was also at MLC that Greg met the joy of his life, his wife Julie (who grew up in the Madison, WI area), and they were married in July of 2010.
Greg then completed the ministry training curriculum of the WELS by graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI with his Masters of Divinity. During his seminary training, he spent a year as a pastoral intern at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Thornton, CO. Following Seminary graduation, Greg was assigned to plant a new mission church in Gilbert, AZ. There he served at Peace Lutheran Church until he accepted the call to Cross of Christ at the end of 2020.
Greg and Julie are blessed with two children: Evelyn (8) and Leo (6). The whole family is excited and thankful to be here in Boise. As a family they love exploring the outdoors, cuddling up with their favorite movies, and enjoying a wide spectrum of music. You’ll likely bump into them on a hiking trail, catch them at a cozy coffee shop, or you’ll spot Greg perusing the local record stores. The Heins look forward to getting to know you and to knowing better along with you the life-changing peace of Christ’s cross.
