Have you seen some lately? In front of empty grocery shelves. On the senate floor. In view of volatile markets. From kids who are way too cooped up at home. Plenty of outrage.
It makes you think of God confronting Jonah and saying, “Is it right for you to be angry?”
If anyone has a right to be mad, it’d be God. The mess around us is a result of sin. It ruined his perfect design for the world. He never told us to do that. But we keep saying things we regret, doing things that hurt, and thinking things that should never be thought.
So, where’s God’s outrage? It’s spent. Spent on Jesus at the cross. Nothing left. Just mercy, love, and patience as he helps us through the mess on this earth.
Let’s spread a little more patience. Let’s show kindness and mercy. Let’s be characterized by calm, measured wisdom and seek God’s help amid all the outrage.
If God’s not outraged at his people, let’s let go of outrage too. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you (Ephesians 4:32).
Who knows? God might be using all this to lead people to see his people and his mercy in Christ.
We'd love to hear from you.
