Forgotten

Some things are hard to forget. Some things were so painful they can never be forgotten. It was too hurtful and our memories are too good to let that slip away.

God has a perfect memory. He knows absolutely everything. Yet there are things he forgets. He forgets because he chooses to let them slip away and never recall them again. He forgets wickedness and sin.

How can that be? Because Jesus took them all. He was crushed by the punishment our sins deserve. God’s anger over sin is satisfied.

What things from your past can you never forget? The things you regret and the things that keep you awake at night. The things you so wish you could take back or undo. You might not be able to forget them, but God does. He doesn’t recall them. They’ve slipped away.

That’s what it means to be forgiven. God has forgotten all your sins.

“I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more” (Jeremiah 31:34).

We'd love to hear from you.
