They’re the complementary colors that dominate the season. Red and green decorations everywhere.
Red like blood. Green like a Christmas tree.
Just as the evergreen tree keeps its color from season to season, God’s love for you doesn’t fade. Whether it’s been a good year or a bad year, whether you’ve been faithful or a disappointment, whether you feel it or you don’t, he won’t stop loving you.
Because Jesus shed red blood on the cross. Blood that covers over everything wrong. Blood that is holy, innocent, and precious. Blood that said you were worth it.
Red and green is all around us, reminding us of the reason for Christmas. The two complete each other as complementary colors. He came to shed his blood because God’s love for you never fades.
“[He] loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood” (Revelation 1:5).
