Knowing

Remember when we used to need to get to know each other first?

We used to need to have actual conversations with people before we knew their political opinions or religious beliefs. Having conversations with people meant we got to know them. We got to know their personalities and base our idea of them on time we’d actually spent with them. After building a relationship, then we’d learn some of their opinions and beliefs.

Social media has enabled us to attack people’s opinions and beliefs as if we know EVERYTHING about them, without ever getting to know them. I’m not
asking IF you do this to people. I’m telling you that you DO; we ALL do.

I AM asking if you do this to God. Do you make your judgments of what God wants and what God is like based on things you see and hear from people, without actually getting to know God himself?

God loves you the most. How do you get to know him? We need to have conversations with him and spend time with him. Our conversations with God can’t be one sided; they can’t all be us doing the talking in prayer. We also need to let God talk to us and reveal himself to us.

God lets us know who he is in his Word. The Bible reveals God to us. And the Bible says God’s opinion of you is that you’re worth dying for. Get to know him and what he’s done for you.

“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:3)

We'd love to hear from you.
