Has the joy been missing in your life? Do the dark days have a way of sapping the happiness, and it lasts even when the bright days come?
If so, in some ways, you’re in good company. Many people in the Bible and throughout history has struggled with depression and times of little to no joy. But that wasn’t the end for them. They survived and thrived even through the dark times.
How? God’s salvation.
God saves you. He says you’re precious and you matter. There is nothing he wouldn’t do—nothing he wouldn’t give—to show you that. He gave up his Son at the cross so you can be free. He takes your guilt, shame, pain, and worries upon himself. He’s preparing something wonderful for you—a glory that will never end. He adores you. When you are his child by believing in Jesus, he’s not upset with you. He’s not disappointed in you. He walks with you through the darkest of valleys. From beginning to end, he stands ready to protect you and lift you up.
Even in the dark days. Especially in the dark days. Even when you don’t feel it. Especially when you don’t feel it. He saves you.
There’s joy in his salvation.
“Restore to me the joy of your salvation” (Psalm 51:12).
