Going to Sleep

It is probably safe to assume that you don’t dread going to sleep. Most people welcome rest. We need to sleep. There’s nothing scary about it.

It’s interesting that Jesus refers to the death of a believer as sleep.

When you believe in Jesus, even the thing that seems scariest of all can’t harm you. It will only usher you into the ultimate rest your Savior wants for you—something you need.

And one day your body will wake up, and you will live forever.

Believing in Jesus changes everything—even death—from scary to just fine. It’s like going to sleep.

Jesus once said of a dead girl, “[She] is not dead but asleep” (Mark 5:39). Then he raised her to life.
