A Small God

God is big. The Bible says he fills the universe. He cast the stars into space, creates all life, and holds everything together by his mighty power.

Do you know what Christmas shows us? The big, mighty, glorious God of the universe became small. Who is that baby born outside in Bethlehem lying in a manger? Who is the homeless man who wandered much of his adult life? Who is the beaten and bloody one being executed on a cross with criminals?

It’s God. God became so small. For you. To raise you up from your smallness. To make you significant. To show that you matter.

A big God who makes himself small to demonstrate just how much he loves you. That’s what Christmas is all about.

“[Jesus], being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing” (Philippians 2:6-7).

We'd love to hear from you.
