Saving when we want to spend. Exercising when we want the bag of chips instead. Having tough conversations with our kids or coworkers.
Why do we do hard things? Because, in the end, they’re worth it.
God calls us to do a lot of difficult things in life. Things that require self-denial. Pain. Even crosses. Why would anyone ever do the hard things God calls them to do?
Because they’re worth it. Because God’s worth it.
The path he’s laid out for us may not always be easy, but it leads to ultimate satisfaction. It leads to immense joy. It leads to life at its fullest, life that never ends. It leads to God himself.
So worth it.
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’” (Matthew 16:24)
