Fall is a beautiful season. It brings about all sorts of change. The weather gets colder, the leaves turn colors, it’s harvest time, and we get to enjoy lots more pumpkin-flavored treats.
Sometimes dealing with change is stressful and uncertain. But fall is the perfect time to also take comfort in change.
Every year, regardless of who wins the Super Bowl or who wins the election, fall comes. Every year, no matter what happened at home or what went wrong at school, the leaves still change colors. Every year, without any impetus required from the people on earth, the seasons change and change back again.
There are things going on around us that are bigger than us. There are forces at work none of us brings about. They just happen. Because God makes them happen. No matter what’s going on in life right now or what changes you might be facing, God is working in cosmic ways. Like making the leaves change and the weather get colder. And in spring, he’ll make it start to get warmer again.
Isn’t it nice to know that God is still in control? Isn’t it great to see some of the constant changes that remind us of something bigger? Isn’t it comforting to know the God of the weather is the one who will work in your heart, too?
Change isn’t always bad.
“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease” (Genesis 8:22).
