It’s the moment millions are longing for—the official turn of the calendar year. So long 2020. Hello 2021! Most people are really hoping for a better year this new year. That means the year 2021 has some high expectations to meet.
But what if we see a lot of the same old in 2021? What if things take a long time to get better, or things don’t really ever quite get back to “normal”?
Is there anything new we can count on this new year?
God says you can have a new heart. Jesus came to this world to suffer all that’s bad and make you clean inside—to offer you a new and better heart. He never gets sick of forgiving, cleansing, or restoring. When you have Jesus in 2021, he gives you a new heart.
God also says you can have a new home. Jesus is preparing a place for all his people. He’ll come back to take us to be there with him forever. It’s a new heaven and a new earth. It will be perfect. It will meet and far surpass all expectations. It’s coming, because Jesus is coming soon.
There are a lot of uncertainties at the start of a new year. But when you have Jesus, some things are absolutely certain. He loves you. He’ll be with you. He has new things for you. And they’re going to be great!
“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’” (Revelation 21:5).
